Elegoo Mars 5
My last Elegoo printer bit the dust a few weeks ago. It would boot up, I would go to print, and it would turn off and back on. Considering I had it for over 2 years, in the garage, in the South, I can’t really complain about it keeling over. Fortunately, I had bought the Allstate Protection Plan from Walmart when I bought it, so a phone call later, I shipped it off, and received a check for what I paid for it.
So I was able to upgrade to this beauty here: ELEGOO Mars 5 Ultra (not an affiliate link). I’ve had it less than 24 hours as I write this, and I’ve already managed to get three rounds of prints off it.
This thing is the easiest printer I have ever owned. Unbox it, plug it in, slice some files, and three hours later I have some beautiful ashigaru with yumi for a samurai project I am working on.
There is no leveling, it is self leveling. I didn’t even check resin settings (which was a mistake), I just sliced and printed. First round, I managed to get five out of eight ashigaru off the printer (the original supports are very thin, which caused a few failures). I upped the layer burn in rate from 1.6 to 2.0 and the next 2 batches I got eight out eight printed perfectly.
Honestly, this is the best printer I have ever owned, so far.
I like Elegoo a lot because of their customer service. They have replaced screens that I probably broke, they have replaced screens that were just out of warranty. I highly recommend them as a company.
Oh and pay the extra $30 or $40 for the protection plan.
