It's important not to let 'things' consume our lives. Sometimes that comes from obsessively accumulating things, and sometimes that comes from the sort of frustration you're talking about here. If we are not enjoying the hobby, what is the point?
Yeah, I was tempted to to not write this article. Being happy is not the correct phrasing. Lots of things make me "happy", but they are bad for me. As Paul says in Corinthians 10:23
“Everything is permissible,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible,” but not everything is edifying.
Which is probably why I changed the title to Being Content, not happy. I am content with my latest projects, and I am content to change my priorities and work on other things when I want to.
The entire point of the story is that they main protagonist went through a lot of troubles, to end up exactly where he started only worse off.
I have done the same thing with many things in my life. Switching jobs, leaving good places to make more money, have more things, have more "fun". Only to end up back at the same place, with the same level of happiness.
