I've had success using co-op miniatures games to bring my wife into the fold as well. I created a Harry Potter game using some mechanics from Insurgent Earth and others, and got her and her friends really enjoying themselves on the table!
It's fun! You can definitely tell the author comes from RPGs originally, and he could probably organize the rulebook a bit better, but I had a great time with the main rules and wrote up a little review/battle report here: https://www.atthequeenscommand.com/insurgent-earth-battle-report/
I'm looking forward to this series.

Insurgent Earth sounds very cool. I will look into stocking it at the store.
