Interesting, the rift I opened to your world just so happens to be in your general area. Perhaps in the near future, I'll have the resources to make the rift a little more stable, hopefully stable enough to fly my airship through!
This is the way game shops need to operate to stay open: you monetize the space itself. Get some regular game leagues going, cards especially, and you've got a "guaranteed" basic income stream. I like it. I play locally in a Blood Bowl league for 25 bucks a month, which basically means I can come in whenever and play Blood Bowl. In practice I've never been in more than twice a week, because real life has such lame obligations. :) I'll see about "investing".
This is a great idea! I remember a board game shop near my college where you could try out games or have them demonstrated briefly to you. It was an excellent resource and helped me pick/avoid certain games. I’m excited to hear more as it unfolds. Congratulations on the lease!
Many thanks! In my experience, gamers spend a lot of time reading reviews or watching videos about games wondering if they should buy, but it's a lot quicker and more certain if you just play it yourself.
Exactly, and this is the exact reason that a physical store will be so successful. You can’t intuit the feel of a game until you physically play it. And these games can be expensive! Also, many families are trying to get away from screens, so they will be receptive to any cool game recommendations like Settlers of Catan that break the “Let’s play Monopoly for the 10th time!” There are some great ones out there for kids to get into tabletop. My children have loved “Coraquest” that has drawings that resemble their own art skills (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/318546/coraquest). It’s a lot of fun, but seems not to be available anymore on Amazon.
You probably won't be able to do it through SS, since you are already a contributor to the site. If you would like to give your support-- and I would be deeply honored! -- I will update with a Paypal link.

Thanks for the recommendation of Coraquest. I will look into stocking it!
This is a great idea. How do we donate? Through Substack? Hopefully they won't mark it as fraud again...
